Boys Empowerment Groups

Boys Empowerment Groups (10 one-hour sessions)

Grades 4-6 (ages 9-12)

  • The It’s a Guy Thing curriculum explores qualities for healthy relationships, role models, and lifestyles. This group challenges the unhealthy messages that place boy’s at risk for developing negative self-concept, perpetrating violence, substance abuse, and delinquency.  Through a series of creative interactive activities, each boy identifies personal support systems that encourage healthy growth as well as constructive ways to cope with challenges that arise throughout life.  Boys also learn real-life strategies to prevent and intervene in violence, bullying, harassment, and intimidation.
  • For information on these programs or to schedule please contact the Violence Prevention Program Coordinator at Helpline – Amy Hawthorne
